Searching for Authenticity

A few years ago, City St George's, University of London introduced an "Assessment for Learning Code of Practice" requiring module leaders to design, among other things, "Authentic and Contemporary" assessment or, more specifically, "create assessments that have a clear link to students' academic development and future employability skills".
The talk explores the meaning of authentic assessment and reflects on the attempts made to design such an assessment in a first year data analysis module. Some further reflections will also be shared on the opportunities offered and challenges posed by AI. In preparation for the talk, participants are invited to engage with the following .
