The next generation of research and innovation leaders will be supported through a major £179 million investment announced today (Friday 6 March 2020), including £4.1 million funding to support 91Ó°ÊÓÆƽâ°æ doctoral researchers. At the 91Ó°ÊÓÆƽâ°æ, 54 students across engineering and physical sciences will be supported in their doctoral training thanks to the £4.1 million funding.

Artificial Intelligence is developing every day, and shaping the future of AI are three PhD students from the 91Ó°ÊÓÆƽâ°æ, who received the Feuer Scholarship from technology mogul Jonathan Feuer, enabling them to do AI research in topics from computer vision, to helping the homeless, to making information retrieval models more powerful and less biased.

As homelessness in the UK increases, one PhD student at the 91Ó°ÊÓÆƽâ°æ is on a mission to help those in need using AI algorithms, helping charities reach as many people sleeping rough as possible following alerts from members of the public.
